Today I visited a Tropical Forest- 30 degreesC in the middle of winter:) Opened last year at the Otago Museum (NZ)the $1.2 million area is home to approx 1000 butterflies, as well as a waterfall, tropical plants, birds, fish, and turtles, on three levels. I discovered that even with that many butterfies fluttering by it is no easy task to photograph them. Made more difficult by it being the last day of the School Holidays and the 80% humidity causing steamed up lenses. It was delightful to see the excitement of so many children as butterflies ocassionally landed upon them. I bought an identification card but am still unsure what this one is - I think perhaps a Blue Cracker (Hamadryas feronia). Perhaps someone will be able to positively identify it. . . Panasonic DMC-FZ7 . .Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Nice shot Lyn. Looks like this butterfly was checking out you and your camera just long enough to get an very good shot of her.

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

It's not how many megapixels. But how you use the ones you have.

He looks like he's sitting there waiting for just the right moment to fly into your face! Superb LE - the leaf is actually my favourite part, it's so beautifully done.

I am even more impressed with the leaf :) because the details are so clear. The butterfly of course is equally great.

I think you are correct. I've seen this one down in south Texas and Mexico. Great capture.

Ask your Congressmen and Senators why our existing wells aren't pumping more than 3 days a month? There a lot of unused capacity in existing wells.
