The main reason for my birthday visit to Aoraki Mt Cook was of course to get some wonderful photos of her! This was what it was like - Mt Cook is there through the gap on the left. This was taken through glass, from the table where I enjoyed my birthday lunch - it was pouring with rain and I couldn't go out and get my new camera all wet now could I? :). During the day away we experienced rain, hail, brilliant sunshine, and a thunderstorm. The weather provided some wonderful clouds and light which gave me some good photo shots elsewhere even though Mt Cook was a disappointment. ' ' Canon 450D. Thanks for viewing. comments welcome :)

Brrr!! It looks very cold and just goes to remind us in The North that it's still your winter and that ours is yet to come!! You seem to be getting to grips with your Canon now.

The mountain seems to disappear into the rainy sky. You couldn't have done much better under the circumstances. I like the snow covered scene all the same.

Looks like a big drop from the edge of the foreground. It has a nice 3-D effect and I think you did great from your seat in the restaurant. Happy Birthday again Lyn.

It's wild and windy-looking. A bit like our summer. In fact it looks warmer there. Nice shot LE - the simple combination of the snow and green vegetation works well, and I like that we can see the ravines on the mountainside too.

well, this one is my favorite. really, you've used about three colors...white, green, and shades of gray. you've preserved details in both the foliage and the mountains. the mist or fog is so effective. happy birthday.
