Last Friday I was very fortunate to spend a whole day with an expert photographer. I learned a lot about my camera in one day and manual controls are not quite so terrifying any more !
Being more in control of the camera is a good feeling!
I will post a few of my shots from the day. This one is very lightly edited ( a minor sharpen) and I suspect it may be too wishy-washy for some tastes.
I did experiment with some editing but in the end left is as it is as that is what I remember seeing and it was the effect I wanted. I like the ethereal quality of the hazy light. It was taken late afternoon.
Thank you for your views and I welcome any comments/opinions.

Love the muted tones, it gets that way in some inland areas of Australia that have a bit more moisture in the air like the central plains of NSW. Great use of wedges in your composition too.

Beautifully composed. I love the color of that water! Exudes a natural beauty in my eyes. I think the hazy light adds to the photo. The only thing I can see that I would possibly enhance (some) is the rocks to the right. And...(maybe?) a light crop on both the top and bottom to bring it in to the viewer. Saved to enjoy longer!

Lyn - I think the lighting and color tones give this photo a different and good feeling. Perhaps if color were adjusted it could be 'just another photo'. The beauty of the lake, with its pastel tones, and majesty of the snow-capped mountains, in the misty haze of a late afternoon, are captured well in this wonderful composition. Elizabeth's crop suggestion would give a panoramic effect that would emphasize the larger body of water and mountains even more. Thad

Both beautiful images, Eve. The large expanse of sky in this one does reduce impact on the mountains rising out of the water.

No, it is not at all wishy-washy Lyn. The mild tones beautiful. The snow covered mountains and the turquoise water look superb.

Wonderful scene and photo, Lyn. Pastel tones of the colors are great. For short, this photo is great all the way. Very fine post, my friend.

We are having near whiteout conditions where I live and you are having blueout conditions. Between the two, I will take the blueout. Such a tranquil scene. Both in coloring and view.

Another very fine landscape shot, LynEve! I like the bright, diffuse light, which softens the cold, hard peaks of the distant mountains and adds a bit of warmth to the scene. The pale blue sky and sea green water are also very nice.

How fortunate for you to spend the day with a photographer. I love the gentle blues that permeate this lovely scene, Lyn. Maybe you'll share some of what you learned. Jen is in Burma with a professional photographer right now too. I hope she will be able to do the same.
