I do not know the purpose of these posts in a lagoon - they are too close together to be a submerged fenceposts I think. They were very popular bird perching spots - but birds did not oblige and pose for me. Contest entry. Edit: Not a contest entry after all - missed out because of the recent site downtime. :)

They are sometimes used to catch bracken and weeds that clog up the pond/lake beds!...

I too was expecting pretty maidens, LE. A good contest entry and the reflections add much to the scene.

I'm not sure of what the post's purpose is either, but I am sure in that I'm enjoying this calming image very much. Nice diagonal lead in with the posts ... taking the eye to the pleasant reflections / water. Excellent capture, Lyn.
