This Kowhai tree is an offspring of the one producing the flowers in my previous post Here. It grew from a seedling, unfortunately very close to a window. Reluctantly I chopped it down about 5 years ago after it reached a couple of metres high to allow light into the house. . I left the stump - the cat liked to scratch it. It was a persistent little tree though and soon threw up new branches in defiance - so I let it be. It gets a severe pruning every year and as the flowers grow from second year wood they are much more sparce than on its parent tree, but just as beautiful.
Canon EOS 450D, 60mm macro lens.

Thanks for viewing, and Happy Friday to all :)

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

Well, first of all, nature has supplied the basics here for this incredible and gorgeous image Lynn. I love the soft background and the way you displayed this beautiful flower! Outstanding work although I feel it would fit better if the image was nudged over to the left and down a bit, otherwise a wonderful presentation:) With all that this just became my new DT!!

Lyn - While both Kowhai images are excellent, each framed differently, I like this one for its simple, graceful composition. Thad
