The Waitaki River. . . I have lost count of the number of shots of this mighty river I have posted ! Here it flows under the historic Kurow Bridge which dates from the 1880's and is still in use, connecting Kurow and the Hakataramea Valley. There are two bridges, both one way, overdue for replacement with a two lane one.

The name of the town of Kurow is an Anglicised form of the name of the nearby mountain Te Kohurau. In the 1920s the Kurow was the base for the building of the nearby Waitaki Dam and forming Lake Waitaki in the first of a series of hydroelectric projects on the Waitaki River.

THE BALLAD OF THE WAITAKI celebrates the Waitaki River and the electricity it provides. Lyrics here.

Look how blue, is it deep enough to take a dive? I'm thinking you've done that already.

It doesn't make sense to count the number of shots, Lyn, as long as they are that impressive!

I enjoy this post very much!
