I rarely photograph this red rose because it grows against the light coloured wall of our house and I prefer a darker background.
I think maybe this one works. I softened the background to hide the bricks :)

The red red rose is very very beautiful Lyn. You have done a good job with it. If it is against the wall you could try a shot showing the shadows. I have tried that against s white wall.

Maybe some black (or dark color) card behind the rose may work!

but, saying that...there is nothing wrong with this!...It looks lovely

I do not know about the background ... Generally either very dark or very light coloured should give similar effect. But in this case we are not talking about any backgrounds !!! Lyn dear, this is such a delicate tissue red rose with all the veins showing up. And forgive my medical or even surgical approach LOL It was unintended really. I love the gentle dark veins on the petals.
