I was not sure what category to put this in but have decided on sculpture.
When in Wellington recently we visited an exhibition at Te Papa (The Museum of NZ) called 'Gallipoli: The scale of our war' which was created to mark the WW1 centenary. It portrays the triumphs and tragedies of the 8-month campaign through the eyes and words of ordinary New Zealanders who were actually there.Created by TePapa in conjunction with Weta Workshop.
The figures are 2.4 times lifesize, and together with sound effects it was a very moving experience. You can read about the exibition here, and see some of how it was created, it is worth a look http://gallipoli.tepapa.govt.nz/about
This is one of those 'ordinary New Zealanders', Staff Nurse Lottie Le Gallais,33,military nurse on the hospital ship Maheno which left Wellington in July. She hoped to meet up with her brother Leddie who was stuck on Gallipoli, but it never happened. All her letters to him were returned in the November stamped "Killed, Return To Sender". Her family at home had been informed but they could not contact her. The grief on her face is so real, some spectators had tears rolling down their faces as they viewed.
