I returned to our Public Gardens today The birds on Mirror Lake were enjoying the lovely sunny winter's day as much as I was - including this pair of Canada Geese.
This species was introduced to New Zealand in 1905 when 50 birds were imported. There are now over 60,000 of them. Until 2011 it was a protected species but now is classified as a pest because of the damage they do to grazing land. There are annual culls to keep the population static. This pair and their friends are safe where they have chosen to live :)
Taken with Panasonic TZ60.

This is such a good take of them, I really like that you caught the sun lit eye, and good details in both. I just saw on tv last night where New Zealand is getting a big influx of Americans who are moving there. They also showed some of the amazing scenery, but I was already aware of that because of your beautiful images. tigs=^..^=

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

The same happened in my country as well, Lyn, but with other geese species as well. Every year there's a discussion (mainly in our newspapers) between farmers versus bird lovers. An endless battle without a good solution.

Good image however, my friend!
