These Muscovy Ducks live at the lake in our local gardens. They stick together among the mallards and the Canada Geese. The one I believe is the female in front needs a bit of protection as it has lost a leg. They are placid creatures and these ones are used to human visitors so it is easy to get very close to them.

I feel sad for the female, makes me wonder what happened, bt she looks healthy, and it's good she has a companion. This is a wonderful close up of the pair. tigs=^..^=

Lyn, in nature males are more handsome than females (happily it's on the contrary in the human world, ☺ ) so I think you're right that the one in front is a female.
