This is an old photo from my files that I have maybe posted before. I have re-edited it for ANZAC Day 25th April, commemorated in New Zealand and Australia.
As there can be no public commemorations here in New Zealand because of the Covid 19 lockdown all over the country alarms are set for an early wake up call when many will stand outside their houses in silent remembrance at dawn - 6 am. Hand made poppies of all shapes and sizes have appeared in windows, tied to fences, stuck on mail boxes. We WILL remember them, we DO remember them.

A row of colourful poppies. That is a very good way to celebrate the heroes who fought for freedom and particularly so commendable because the war was raging on the other side of the earth.

In Flanders Field - John McCrae, 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

----As there can be no public commemorations here in New Zealand....---

The same over here, Lyn. On May, 4th we commemorate our fallen heroes, and on May, 5th we celebrate our liberation from Hitler's tyranny, this time without public as well. This is unreal.
But even without public, we must not forget what the ANZAC day and the special May days in my country stand for. We are obliged to honor those who gave their highest good for our freedom.
Whit respect to the present situation: the limitations of our freedom because of the Covid-19 (Corona) pandemic is of a completely different order.
Excellent tribute on your part!

Take care, stay safe and healthy!
