Another sunflower shot from last week.
This is taken from the roadside, along which is part of New Zealand's 22 Cycle Trails. They are known (in Maori) as "Ngā Haerenga" which means "The Journeys". The length of the country, 3000 km can be cycled along these trails.
This one is The Alps to Ocean Trail, covering 55 km.
As to the sunflowers, they are grown for birdseed, and soon they will be harvested.

The stormy sky gives an extra dimension to this wonderful composition, Lyn.
In the summer time (northern hemisphere, 😁) we can see some sunflower fields in my area too, but smaller than yours. They are primarily grown for consumable sunflower oil instead of birdseed. After pressing out the seeds, the remains are used as an ingredient for cookies for cattle.

Beautiful field of sunflowers, I love to drive along and see them. We have a lot more farmers around here planting them lately. Maybe they plant them for the oil we use in cooking. Thanks for sharing.
