No, it's a jpg file I uploaded. I'm 100% sure.
The thing is I've had the same problem before, and I have it now too. Not long ago I could save uploaded jpg files as jpg, now I can only save them as bmp. I have no idea what's wrong and all ppl I've asked don't know either :/... I hope to get this problem to the bottom one day, cuz I have no idea how to fix it...

I like this picture. How did you make it.

I made it from scratch in photoshop 7.0. At first I used some clouds and gradients merged with a few brushes to create the basis. Then some more brushes and light effects to create some extra energy-like sparkles from it which I thought would look nice with the background I got. And some other filters/effects to make it look more abstract.
