i like the simplicity of it. the subject just doesn't sufficiently fill the frame, i believe. if you try cropping in 1/5th from each edge, or perhaps fitting this with a frame, i think it would do your study of these acorns quite a bit of justice. as for the photo itself, great detail and texture here. keep trying.

lately, i've fallen horribly behind in my thanks and comments. I'll catch up, but until I do, please know all your kind words are greatly appreciated.

Nicely shot, maybe change the color of the framing to something closer of the colors of the acorns?

That & spread your acorns around a bit, fill up some of that negative space. A great try though & I can see you're on the right track. Keep 'em coming please !

(..........I've tried a few plant/flower macros at home myself, with coloured cardboard, white paper and tabletop lamps all over the place................)

Hoi, Richard!
I see what you mean!, I did the same with "Composition in red",
but I took the photo outside with only a white paper and the sunlight!
Thisone is also a nice try, but it is a little overexposed by the lamplights!
My compliments for you gallery!, there are many 'excellent'
Photos!
Regards!
John
