This is from June 2008. We had a major fire in the forest May to June. It took the Fire Brigade two weeks to put out the fire. We had 8-10 helicopters in the air almost every day and about 80 firemen. The area was 2644 Acre big (1070 ha). The smoke was heavy from the fire and this evening I went out and took this picture. Taken with my Pentax K10D and Pentax 18-55mm lens. Thanks for looking and comments always appreciated.

I can't belive I am saying this but you took a very bad incident and made it look good. I love the smoke it almost looks like a dark cloud and also like the vibrant colors of the grass and how you captures the little houses or factories I am not sure what they are. Great Shot, I hope nothing fatal occured.

What a great capture of a devasting scene Mariana. Colors are really good and the smoke creates a cloudlike view. Nice post.

You captured this sad scene in a very good way Mariana. It was such a hot and dry summer it is no wonder bad things like this happens. I hope everything went well and nothing fatal occured.

This is quite a dramatic capture, Mariana. Well captured and I guess you prefer the Pentax to the Canon at this point.

Great capture of the smoke. I use to feel really sad about forest fires. When I was at Yellowstone a few years ago I learned how important they are in their own way, so now I see them a little differently. A force of nature that we have to deal with, so thankful for those willing to put their lives on the line protecting us.

Wow! A fire that lasts for so long - that must have been devastating. The heave smoke really shows the extent of it. I hope the damage wasn't too severe.
