I did not arrange those old boys to sit that way, just came across the "crew" during my promenade in the park. I thought of cropping the top but wanted to hear your suggestions first; please be so kind as to make some. I really liked those grandfathers and am looking forward to using the photo in my language class.

My first thought was to say yes, crop it, it'll clean the shot up a bit. But as I kept looking, I noticed a very pleasing balance. First, there's a great compositional 'x' that fills the shot, and second, the yin-yang effect of the t-shirts on your subjects and the shadow under the roof really work well together.

So no, no cropping of the shot. That's my final answer ;-)

And my vote... Olga, you will have to do what you feel is right! We do not know how you are going to present this image. I viewed it on my monitor... which has a height 5/8 times the width. That led me to try cropping the top at 1274 pixels from the bottom and at this early hour I had to undo/redo the crop so I could see the change... :o) (I downloaded the 2034x1411 image.) ... but if you wish to follow sage advice... have another look at Rob's!

This is an interesting and unusual subject with some good characterisation - well done for spotting the opportunity! You could crop the top a little to create a "letterbox" style presentation, but I don't think it's that important; whereas there's something to be said for removing dark areas, in this particular case it does add some useful context. Unfortunately however the image is overexposed in the foreground and not very sharp - I think it would benefit from some tweaking in Photoshop.

I much appreciate all the comments I receive about my images, but please excuse me if I don't always reply. My interest in Caedes is exceeding my time available!

This is a brilliant capture. I would bet there are 4 o4 5 individual great images in this alone. the one you present is certainly interesting, well framed and though provoking but I wonder if it's not too much at once. Small subsets of this might be more personal and compelling. The last three guys on the right are intriguing.

Nice work.

Thank y'all for taking the time to comment on the photo, I really appreciate your opinions and guidance. Will try to do some tweaking in Photoshop even though I am terrified of that brainsbreaker.
I use photos in the "Crosscultural Communication" class and although the purpose of it is to get my students to discuss the topic, they are very particular about how I/we (foreigners) see their country.

Cameras are like people--sometimes they lose focus.
