Just down from the Melbourne Concert Hall is Southbank. When I was a boy this did not exist, it's all been developed in the last 20 years and I think it's a great plus in the cityscape of Melbourne. Don't be deceived by the high movie profile that Sydney has - if you visit Australia the city with real style and energy is Melbourne. Sydney Harbour, with the Opera House and the Bridge is gorgeous but she's a one trick pony, if you want riches that go deep and flow wide, visit Melbourne. (An insight into the history of Australia - Melbourne and Sydney have been competing with each other from the start. The competition is friendly these days but in the past it's shaped the actual shape of the Federation and the destiny of the nation.)
