Australian hill, cleared for farming over a hundred years ago. In Australia the dry conditions and often very poor soils mean that regrowth of cleared areas is slow or non existent without intervention. Dead gum trees like this one are an integral part of my internal iconography. Any Australian who travels out of the cities (Most of us don't.) sees this sight everywhere in the Southern half of the country. I know the tree is long dead but to me it's still beautiful.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

It is beautiful. There always seems to be such intereting curves, lines, and shadows in a dead tree. Your colors - especially the blue are so intense. This is a superb post.
