Caedes has provided a very helpful summary of some basic good rules of photography that can be found HERE. Paying attention to these simple rules when you are in the field, can make a massive difference to your work regardless of the camera you are using. This shot was taken on my old Canon S3IS a year or two back and it is the first in a small series titled The Angle. In the Caedes rules the principle is called Diagonals but I always ask myself, in the field, "Where is the angle?" so that's what I'm calling this series. I'm starting with some entirely human constructed angles then working towards the entirely natural ones. When the entire series is up I might link them together. This old railway bridge is in the town of Yass.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

True enough that angles/diagonals are interesting and can add a sense of motion, Mikel.
You can still have angles and correct the perspective, horizon line, or both if necessary, to keep the subject from leaning or appear to be falling over.
Whenever you point the camera Up or Down you'll get converging or diverging verticals, the severity of which is dependent on the steepness of the camera/lens angle and the focal length of the lens. There aren't many good Perspective Correction grids to be found that allow extending correction lines beyond the grid/image, but you can find one in PhotoBrush editor by Mediachance. A trial download would give you plenty of time to learn how to use one, even if it lacked the features of that one.
