Carp in a pond in Chengdu, reworked in The Gimp with an eye to emulating the Chinese watercolour tradition of painting carp. I didn't get exactly where I was aimed but I was happy with the result all the same. Can't learn if you don't try.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

Most interesting and very beautiful, too.
The idea reminds me a little of Henri Matisse, but of course with the enormous leap in time.
Thanks and congratulations.

I think that what you have captured and brought out is the first glance into the carp pool. My theory is that once your eyes (and brain) begin to understand what you are seeing, more detail comes out and the colors, while still vivid, are not as prominent as they are in that first discovery. Interesting treatment and the blurry fins and tails are perfect for suggesting movement.
