I wanted to further practice doing the infamous silver/gold bordering with jewels and fractals in photoshop so here is the result of that. all comments welcome! Here is the fractal I based it off
I like the central flower and the green with the yellow-green lights around it. I'm not wild about the framing myself, but not because there's anything terribly wrong with it. I just think this might look better without it. Regarding the actual bordering: it seems a bit odd that it is _almost_ but not quite has 4-way symmetry, but actually has only 2-way. I guess I would either make it 4-way or make it more obviously only 2-way so it doesn't look like an oversight. Also the bordering at the bottom of the jewel seems to need some attention, although the rest of it is marvellously smooth and I only wish I could get silver looking this good!
Nice work. This design has an odd feel to it, which I can't decide about. Maybe it feels a bit artificial only because I read your description first, but I think that's how it feels to me personally. Not sure if that is good or bad. though.
Well, since I am a baby when it come to the jewel thing and the fractals in general, I just needed to comment that I went back and forth between the two images you presented here, and I really like the addition of the jewel in the middle. Good luck with your quest. I know I always love following one that seems elusive to me too..looks good!!!
