Taken January 2011 at the MN Valley Wildlife Refuge in Bloomington MN. I decided to not do much with this photo because I like how the photo really shows the natural desaturation of everything outside in the wintertime, especially with the sun-bleached planks of the footbridge.

I agree with you about the path. It does create a very subtle subject. Unfortunately the mid ground structure and the trees in the background are both stronger elements and they draw the eye away from you chosen part. Lowering the camera angle to concentrate on the path more would help here, as would a wider aperture and a blurring of the background. A crop also reveals a nicely suble image too. The wooden structures themselves look like a good abstract subject if taken up close, although a BW conversion here would possibly help.

You obviously have a good eye for a subject. Cameras do not have the narrowing of perception that an eye does and so have to be steered precisely to what you want the viewers to see. I really look forward to more posts from you.

Lovely white winter scene with the board walk and yellow dry grasses, icy lake and bare trees in the background
