Passengers approaching Norwich International Airport may be forgiven for thinking the acid-yellow crop in these fields goes into making the famous Colmans Mustard but it's actually rape, which gets turned into rapeseed oil (Canola Oil).

Wow, astounding color. So what is the meaning of the patterns in the fields? It would be wonderful if you could get a close shot of rape to share with us - or even do a manipulation with an inset of a small close up of the plant. I'm not familiar with it. Beautiful aerial view. Thanks for sharing Anne-Marie. anne :-)

Don't tell me it's good, tell me what is good about it. Don't tell me it stinks, tell me what I can do do improve it. Thank you for taking the time to tell me anything at all. Be blessed. anne :-)

You can see a close-up of the actual plant here:

The patchwork pattern of the fields goes back to England's ancient feudal system, where agricultural land was divided up into small units, manageable by one owner.

I love the jigsaw pattern the fields make and the plethora of interesting textures and colors of the soil and vegetation. A very interesting and enjoyable picture.
