I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

great image...love these old church! gateways!...imagine all that work going into it!...wouldn't get stuff like that today!..
I like the angle you took it and the perspective it gives through the open gate way!
*You will have noticed that I haven't been commenting as much on your fine images!..This is because of the pains in my hands!..the constant use of the keyboard, makes this difficult..so, my dear friends..I can only apologise to you all in advance!*

What a spectacular shot! Through the gate just makes this so appealing in composition. It's a lovely gate and the colors of the grass and sky are really attractive and compelling. Nice job!
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Sorry, but the picture looks very wrong to me. Have you been doing loads of HDR photography? The image looks very manipulated and false. There is extreme cropping of object fringes (for example, most of the tree/skyline boundary). The depth of field of the gate relative to the nearby tree, the field and the trees on the horizon doesn't add up at all. I think the colour/luminescence spectrum is not continuous or appearing to come form the same palette. I hope my criticisms are fair - because what has been presented as a photo really looks more cartoon-like to me.
Actually I rather love this shot, Anne-Marie. I love metaphors about gateways, and I agree with Neamh. The gate is a portal leading into a beautiful mystical place full of green and serenity.
The composition is great as is the DOF. T'riffic.

There is just something so inviting and magical about a garden gate....and this one is absolutely beautiful! The whole scene is ever so sweet feeling, and just makes me want to walk and see
what there is hidden beyond the gate...thank you for a most lovely photo..verena
Hello Anne-Marie...Simplicity at its best...The open gate takes your eye onto the lane and beyond...You have captured the light and shadows superbly which makes this a pleasure to view....All the best...Mick.
