NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS COPYRIGHTED AND NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE. Silence is so hard to come these days. I thought I would provide you a place where you can enjoy an ample supply of silence-in a swamp. It is always there, ever present. Here, we have the slight pitter patter of rain hitting a leaf, a cypress log or the water. But, that's it. No metallic clatter of drops on hard metal or concrete. This rain is a gift...a gift filled with peace, solitude and wonderful silence. Sony F-707. Thks to all who view and comment.

Muggsy,
Don't you dare ease up on me. If you did that, I would have to ease up on you and I would simply shrivel.

There's something about the rain that gives the image the look of an effects filter. It softens it and makes you have to see it through water drops falling in streams. Do you think if the shutter were fast enough, you could catch the individual drops? Just being silly. I really like the softeness very much.

Pat, you know I love your swamp photos, don't you? There's nothing more eerie yet more peaceful than this. The mosquitos aren't very loud, are they -they're pretty big down there! (should I be ducking about now? :) Very well done! - Patty

What a wonderfully peaceful desktop this will make Pat. This capture has just the right amount of everything for me to call it 'serene'. Hope you were able to enjoy it as well. Thanks for sharing your silence with me :~)

Oh Pat! Did you take this in Lousiana? All those wonderful Cypress trees! It sure does bring back memories to me!! I remember the scent of those bayous and the peacefulness. Often all we could hear is the soft cricket sounds...or maybe some little rainfroggies. There is something abut hearing soft rain splashing...on nature itself. I sure do feel all you have described here. Out in the countryside where we live, itslike that too. And on the few days we have when it snows, you can hear the snow softly going "shhhhhh" s it falls on top of the snow on the ground....its just wonderful. Thank you for the reminders my dear friend..Verena

absolutely wonderful photograph Pat! The green is magnificent! and the composition is beautiful too! ...and I know exactly what you mean about the peace and quiet - I experienced that yesterday when I was on my hike - I stopped to listen and I could hear nothing apart from the odd bird and a farm animal somewhere in the distance. The patter of rain that you heard must have sounded quite something in such a peaceful setting. just lovely! Patti

What an eye you have Pat for what will be a great photo. I can sense the quietness in this except for the singing of the birds occasionaly breaking the silence. Looks so lush and beautiful here with these cypress trees.
