This is another UK image of a former castle, church or some such structure. It was taken with a wide angle lens and a little distortion remains after PS but I still like it. The sky that day was just awesome so I left a lot of it in the image. And then also, I love the colors in the old stone.

There is something about old ruins like these. As you look round them The Past seems to haunt you and you start to wonder what life was like there and what were the people like all those years ago. We are blessed here in Britain with such an abundance of history that sometimes we don't realise how lucky we are. A lovely image Pat.

When you see this one wonders how the castle looked like when it was completed. Nice shot of the ruin with the blue sky as background.

The sky sets off the stones and the grounds beautifully, Pat.

(Thought for a moment this might be Owd Bob's work..)

How distant is this from 'civilization'?

A stunning work, Pat. I've photographed Egglestone Abbey myself, but my efforts pale pathetically beside this.
As for 'civilisation' ('Civilization' is a video game!), it's about 20 miles south of Durham - home of the third greatest university - you don't get much more 'civilised' than that!
