NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE. Well, we sure lost a good one Friday out in LosAngeles. He was my childhood hero, Matt Dillon (James Arness) on Gunsmoke. He was a U.S. Marshall living in Dodge City, KS. He died in his sleep at 88 years of age. As a kid, if my parents wanted to punish me, they sent me to bed without watching Gunsmoke. It was a great western with serious plots, and first class acting. I don't know if you folks across the pond had this show or not. If not, Google Gunsmoke or James Arness for more info. If you want to watch full episodes of the western, you can do that at http://www.tvland.com/fullepisodes/gunsmoke/ He was a big man-6 foot seven inches and a war hero complete with purple heart. Happy sunset Marshall Dillion! Thanks for the memories.

This is Iris, is so beauiful in color, and I was saddened to hear we lost him too, I used to watch that show all the time, along with some of the other westerns of that time. Matt & Kitty were a good twosome on that show. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I too have seen quite a few episodes of Marshal Matt Dillon in the old days Pat. A nice tribute to a good actor and hero of the screen.

A great tribute to one of my heroes as well Owd Momma. My parents took me to the Ottumwa Coliseum to see him and I could not believe how tall he was. A big, gentle man that will be sorely missed.

I'm with you Pat. Gunsmoke was a favorite of mine too. If you have Netflix, you can stream many of the shows to your computer.

Your photo is excellent with wonderful detail and color.

All be darned, and to think I was the only one that thought Gunsmoke was a awesome show. I liked the Doc and Fetus how they always bickered back and forth. lol It is a shame to lose a great actor such as James Arness. Any who back to what is at hand here, which is a a great photo with great color, angle, and quality. Super Job!!

Due to my maritime career (in that time no TV on the middle of the ocean, lol), I wasn't sure whether I had seen some parts of the Gunsmoke series or not, so I checked out the by you given link. This was a kind of disappointment to me as I was told: "Sorry, this video is unavailable from this site." So I visited this site and found out, by checking out some links on it, that this series is well know to me as well.
So I can understand your feelings and your tribute now, Momma.
It's a splendid one.
Regards, Cornelius.

PS: Here are some photographs of the late James Arness, aka Matt Dillon.

Pat - In 1968, I had the opportunity to travel in Europe. I found it very interesting that across the continent, in nearly every restaurant or bar that had a television, with subtitles, Gunsmoke and Bonanza were on screen. Thad
