NOTICE: THIS IMAGE IS NOT TO BE POSTED ON ANY OTHER WEBSITE. I had a strange thing happen when processing this image. I always process from a RAW file. I did so on this one and did not like it no matter what so I thought I would try processing it from the JPEG file and it came out quite nice. ???? RAW is suppose to yield superior results but not always for whatever reason. Canon 7D with Canon 100-400mm.

This is such a winner! One really gets to see the birds up close. Their coloration is son nice. I think lots of jpegs do verrrrrry well. There are actually people who DON'T always use raw.

I like the color of their heads in contrast with the color of the watrer. Their reflections are quite nice, too.

I always capture in RAW too, Momma, because to me, a better fine tuning of the tones is possible. But this image is already that fine on its own, that it needs no furter tuning. Perfect result in JPEG. Very well done!

RAW just give you more options in editing Owd Momma. It is not necessarily a better shot to begin with. In RAW you can change the White Balance and many other things. This is a great shot and JPeg and RAW has nothing to do with that.. Focus is focus and composition is composition. After that it is up to to what you want to do.
This is a great shot.

Beautiful image, Pat. The 7D does take wonderful jpeg shots. It must be the processing programming in that model. Seems intuitive, in fact. For a while I was taking only jpegs with it. Love the birds and the composition.

See what I mean when I wrote you last time?
What a fine photo! Why, because I like the way they seem to be in no hurry and just swing that bills around, I could do that for a day...for a change from the office. Very relaxing!
