This is the church located on Fort Dodge property. It is still used for worship by the Kansas veterans who now inhabit the grounds. I love those stain glass windows. Fort Dodge closed in Oct of 1882. The land was sold for $1.25 an acre to make way for the now current home for Kansas veterans. It was said that the city had to raise the money to make the purchase. Either there were a lot of acres or a $1.25 was big money in those days. Hwy 400 which runs in front of the Fort and on into Dodge City was the original Santa Fe Trail.

Momma, referring to this post, think that this church wasn't too small for the only 13 believers in Dodge.

Very nice image again Pat, and a valuable addition to this series.

I love seeing old churches like this. "Give Me That Old Time Religion" comes to mind when I see them. Excellent shot, Pat.

Nice image. Looks like a inviting place to worship. Nice to know it's still being used and I think they got their moneys worth.

Simple and beautiful church. One doesn't need ornate decorations if one wants to pray.

Well captured Pat. It looks very well cared for. The stained glass windows look great against the simple white walls.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
