A lot of time and money is invested in harness, horse collars and wagon tongue (long pole attached to the wagon) parts such as small and large singletrees. Each harness and collar weighs approximately 130 pounds. The harness is handcrafted with solid brass, patent leather, and stitched with pure linen thread. The harness is made to fit any Clydesdale; however, horse collars come in various sizes and must be individually fitted to the Clydesdale like a finely tailored suit. Clearly seen in this image is an example of a small singletree attached to a larger one. That's the white wooden bars behind the horse with the attached long leather traces running from the horse's collar to the singletree. That is how the horses pull the wagon forward. The smaller singletree is attached to a larger single tree which has yet another small single tree attached to it on the other side for the adjoining horse. All of these small and larger singletrees must be transported to each show along with the hundreds of pounds of harness. I'll post of a picture later of how that is done.

I got confused with the singletrees while reading this Owd Momma.
Maybe it was the single malt that got to me.
Another good shot and informative post.

Fabulous information on the equipment. Gorgeous angle and detail of these gorgeous horses.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Monday that Anheuser-Busch has quietly begun charging $2,000-per-day for Clydesdale appearances, ending the brewery's long practice of absorbing nearly all of the cost of showcasing the iconic horses.

The brewery says the fee helps to offset the $8,000-per-day cost of putting a hitch team on the road. Until now, event organizers or beer wholesalers were asked to pay nominal costs for stabling and feed.
