here is a steam train that was located in Dodge City, KS when I visited there. I sat up in the engineers seat and got the shock of my life. The shock was that the view is very limited as your trying to see down the track. I found it downright scary. I guess that's why the engineer is always leaning out the window. I love to hear the owd "puffers" however. The sound is almost as blessed as an old John Deer tractor

Lol...Good post!.....

Do you hear that whistle down the line?
I figure that it's Engine Number 1139
She's the only one that'll sound that way
On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe

All Owd Momma's may board now.
Good shot!!

Momma, you've made smile. To me the shock would have been the lack of a steering wheel, lol.
Perfect capture of this Dodge City Locomotive #1139, Pat.

When you see that huge boiler in front then you can imagine that there is no chance of a clear view ahead. That is also why they have the so called "cow catchers". Good shot of this old timer.

Beautiful and nostalgic shot. I like the "gangway" of the
engine that seems to be constructed for an eventual visit
of the president.
