A photo of the harbor of Terschelling. Most of the boats in the background are rented by groups of tourists and schools for a couple of days on the water. Terschelling is one of our islands in the north of Holland. The water that you see is part of the Wadden sea. This sea divides the Island of Terschelling (and others) from the mainland. And believe it of not: you can cross this sea during low tide. I have done it, and depending on which Island you go for from the mainland, it takes a tough walk on high boots for about 3 to 5 hours. A real nature experience! You start the walk in the water, and during the walk the water will first drop so you walk on the dry sea bottom. But before you make it to the island the water will rise again, and it sometimes happens that the water rises above waist level. After you reached an island by foot and you can make the return trip by one of those boats during high tide. When the weather permits it all makes up for a perfect day .
