Commonly called Christmas rose or black hellebore, this is an evergreen perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. It is poisonous. And it is in my garden...and I have children... Ok, I didn't know they was poisonous...so who wants to have them? Oh, the flower are always upside down...so you will never see them the way I photographed this flower. Still interested?

Fascinating structure to these lovely blooms. I can see that you had to get way down low on this one, Paul. The lighting adds so much appeal creating nice shadow to emphasize that these are called 'black'. The detail is exceptional and the lens you used must be one of the very best. I think your children must be old enough to not eat any flowers, but they could have a few nasturtiums or violets and come to no harm. lol
