One of my photography assignments was to take pictures of a building...I ended up getting distracted by this beautiful rose. :)
All too common a fate amongst photographers, I'm afraid and I confess that it always distracts me too. I'm a sucker for what Mother Nature provides us with a minimum amount of effort when compared to a manmade structure. Hope you got a good grade on this lovely.
We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
Nice. It's an interesting photo considering that most people take pictures of the top of the flower. I like the focus on the rose and the fact that it's surroundings don't distract you from it.
I like the foreground focus too, but my eye wants something else. It may be that neither the flower nor the wall offers any form of completion, and I think that's what viewers want.
The image has a feeling of beauty in the face of desperation, as the wall makes one think of boundaries, while beauty always strains to escape boundaries. I think that you may be able to improve the image by giving us either more of the wall or more of the flower. Thanks for sharing the image with us.
