There's a similarity here between this and "Sign & Glass Panels". Do you like to bracket for aesthetic reasons? The former looked like you had to shoot between two plastic panels.
Camerahound,
I "bracket" my pieces for many reasons. The "Sign & Glass Panels" was done because I wanted the focus on the sign.
This one was done with the wood sidebars because with only the fractal leaves, it would have been too bare.
Plus your desktop icons end up on the sidebars and not covering the main part of the picture. Quite a few of my pieces are planned, from the very beginning to have sidebars.
I like my computer desktop to have a slight "real desktop" feel, and with the sidebars, it is a nod to the ink blotters that you used to see on desks all the time, years ago. :c)
I agree Piner. And, that is exactly what I did with it. It looks nice. With most fractals like this they can not stand on their own. They need support. I think that this one is perfect. The idea flows throughout the piece...from the sidebars to the fractal. It makes it one instead of being broken.
