Taken in the South Dakota Badlands during my cross-country road trip on May 14th, 2009. The layered colors of the landscape were quite stunning.

The terrain is aptly named. The photo captures it nicely with interesting colors at the different elevations.

Yup, that's them ol' Badlands! I remember them well. I grew up in Pierre/Ft.Pierre/Rapid City. Nice photo tho. Hard to capture how they look. Verena
