I end up receiving plants from people moving and who can't take them with them. Each reminds me of the family who left. This one was the plant of someone's grandmother. She never had much luck with plants, but I nursed it back to health. Then the pot broke and a friend insisted on repotting it for me ... and it got root rot. My friend doctored it and I nursed it back to health. This year I was awarded with over two dozen blooms.

Jeff, this fine capture shows a flower of a Schlumbergera plant.
Common names for these cacti generally refer to their flowering season, like Christmas- , Thanksgiving- , Easter- or Whitsun-cactus.
