This is a photo of an original oil painting by Hans-Henning Eisermann. I bought this painting some years ago. Every year the Nature Protection Association in Germany nominates a bird species as "Bird of the Year". The Red Kite in the painting was nominated in the year 2000. You can see the english website here. What impressed me most in this painting was its depth of field.

Thanks for sending this one along. It's interesting to speak of depth of field in a painting, but you're right. It's there, and now that I think on it there are many other examples. Lovely piece of work and a nice job of photographing it!
