We have so many caterpillers in the garden at Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center that we had to just bring in a few and put them in a little cage with some of the milkweed. Three of the four attached themselves to the cover of the cage while the fourth attached itself to a stick. There are probobly more than fifty out in the garden... we're going to have so many Monarch Butterflies by next week...

hmmmm, nice capture, keep an eye on it if u are a local as the chrysallis may develop into something even more colourful & awesome, shiney alien, biomechanical craziness that only nature can be :~) thanx for sharing

Aren't monarchs amazing? As if it weren't enough just to turn into a butterfly, they do it in style with their jewl-studded chrysalis..great shot

This is a beautiful shot. And you caught it at a perfect time for the color and ripe fullness. I hope you're around as the color starts to show through and they start to emerge. I don't think we have any good shots of that process.
