Another oldie but goodie. Lots of cars in the hood and one in the headlight, along with the sky surrounding the headlight. I remember the Sunbeam but not who made it. Cool, Rob! - Patty

It's all about perspective and perception.

One of the best of your series, Rob. A Sunbeam must be really rare in USA, I think...

The Sunbeam was less of a rarity in Canada (where I am) I suspect. I remember seeing many of them, including the otherwise rare Sunbeam Tiger seen here. They had a sweet sound and went like crazy! Small car, V8 engine, fun combination. Reminds me of a buddy of mine who bolted a V8 engine into an MGB. That lasted about a week. ;)

Rob... unknown to many, the car in this photo is a rare 1968 Tiger 289, Rootes Group (the factory) installed Ford 289 cu.in. V8, as opposed to the more predestrian Ford 260 V8 installed in cars through 1967. I know because in September of 1967 I bought a new 260 Tiger at Jay's Auto Imports in San Leandro, California. My car was Mediterranian Blue (not the dark blue show on this car), but sitting on a turn table in the corner of the showroom was this car's identical twin, right down to the color. Personally I didn't like the egg-crate grille, the smoothed headlight rings, the chrome wheel-well rims, or the tape stripes along the lower quarter between the wheels. So, I purchase the 'cleaner' 260 Tiger. Mine, however, when through many transformations until it looked (and sounded) like a Cobra (Cobra blue, over the hood/trunk stripes, side exhaust, hood scoop, Firestond racing rubber, etc., etc.) and I autocrossed mine in northern California for three years before returning to Utah, where I sold it to a Ford-fanatic. I'm not sure my car even exists anymore, but I really enjoyed owning and driving it! It was a great car!!!

Well, LeeMikeEmphstn, so nice to find someone with some details around this fine car. Thanks for the time you took to write. I've posted a couple others that you may find interesting.

Kindly,

Rob

Seem to remember them in the US in the early 60s. Most were a POS. The first Bond film featured one. A classic indeed.
