Hmm maybe you should have taken a picture of the person? to dark should have used flash Even though I like to use natural lighting instead.

We always consider a picture of a person to include their face. But why? I like the idea of turning this concept upside down. So on that score its a good idea and interesting. I do not agree with darksmoot about the lighting which seems fine to me. All in all a good picture and an interesting idea. Deserves a better CI, but I am only too aware of low CIs on pictures that are a little different.

There is no calm before the storm. Only in the centre is calm found.

OK, I think I am not understanding something here. First, what are "mainers"? The shoes or a tourist or someone from Maine who is now in somewhere else? I first thought this was a tourist, buying and wearing local shoes...but those shoes do not look new. The cords? Are they also part of a uniform of sorts? More questions than answers here...but looky there... you got us talking! :)

I also don't know what mainers are. This is definitly an original shot but I do believe that this picture needs some light and that this guy needs new shoes.

If we didn't have stupid people who would we laugh at?

I like the feel of this pic. The choice of shoes, pants, even socks.. seems antique in some way, classy. I have different ideas what the top half of this person looks like, but the predominant idea is an older fellow playing a sax, and that the extended foot is even measuring out the rythm. The shoes want to tell a story, and for me that's what the story is. :)

Thank you for the interesting perspectives of this shot. I'm glad for all the thoughts shared. Here's one in reply:

A photo is less if it tells no story.

It's true this man could have used newer shoes. It may also be that these are the only shoes he owed or that they were the only shoes that were comfortable enough to let him walk on that day. Was he frugal or poor or simply cast his caring on matters more important?

Examine the lines in the shot. Are the pants the only corduroy? Are things right?

A photo.

Ifin I didn't know better, I'd say them shoes belonged to my cuzin Jasper. That ain't him, a cause he don't own no pants like that. All he has is bib overalls.
