Chess originated from India but propagated through the world by the Persians (Iranians). In fact, the equivalent of the word "Chess" in all Indo-European groups of languages ,e.g. English, French, German, Spanish, Italian...(all branches of Sanskrit), is a derivative of the Persian word "Shah-Maat" meaning checkmate. Thus, "Chess", "Echec", "Schachi", "Ajedrez" ....and even "Shakhmaati" (Russian) are all modified forms of "Shah-Maat". Ironically, and interestingly, the word "Chess" in Persian is "Shatranj", a derivative of the original Sanskrit "Chatooranka". The word "Shah-Maat" is used only in its original meaning i.e. Checkmate (=Demise of the Shah) which is what I have tried to portray in this shot.
