Saints in the front wall of a cathedral (Notre Dame de Paris) I understand; but what's the lobster doing there?! Anybody with any info on it? Serious!

Fascinating sculpture. All those images have some sort of symbolism or they wouldn't be there, but what the lobster represents is unknown to me. In googling I found it could represent temperance or regeneration.

Great detail of this gorgeous cathedral..!I remeber that the abutments on the two doors of the west façade depict the life of men,which follows un enchanging cycle..on the left and the right are the signs of Zodiac,which represent the twelve months of the year..the"lobster"is the symbol for the sign of Cancer..great work,my friend!...:)

You have sure started something here with that lobster! I always marvel at the craftmanship of those guys of years ago when they didnt have the tools we have today to make such artwork. This is a good capture of this building Bram which shows much detail. Well done!

Ya, can't understand the lobster either.. as a matter of fact.. we had to look well to find it.. but apart from that.. a good capture of this "people"
