I agree - the composition of this photo really emphasizes the stark environment. When you think of these guys in the wild, their wet, leafy, jungle environment... Your shot is nice - the texture of the wall and dry grasses, the placement of the gorilla in the frame. It sends a message.
This is truly criminal. And to think we call ourselves human?!?!? What's humane about this - that another species should be so displaced from their lush tropical home to this barren cage? And to what purpose do we commit such atrocity if not merely to satisfy our human curiosity? Your have truly captured his aloneness and dare I say depression. Thanks for sharing. I think that the distance, which makes him small, is quite apt as we have taken a noble creature and so reduced him. Well done Julie.
What a heartbreaking photo. I mean he is beautiful, but I also just hate what is being done with him. To think these smart lovely animals are treated this way! When they could be out inthe wilds with their own kind. Did you see "Gorillas in the Mist?" Its a wakeup call for sure. A very sad photo. I know you meant well by posting it, and I'm glad you did,but this wonderful animal does NOT deserve to be so cooped up. That zoo is wrong for doing that. I never go to Zoos anymore, unless they have a wonderful surrounding for the animals. Verena
