An overcast midwinter day when temperatures are slightly higher and the snow starts to thaw. Everything is quiet and very still. A day when you can hear your own heart beat. Hope you enjoy.

In normal situations overcast makes images less vivid.
To me this is an exception Susanne, as the overcast has created an appropriate atmosphere, resulting in a very moody image.
Very good work (again).
Regards, Cornelius.

You've captured the quietness and stillness (not to mention the cold) perfectly here Susanne.

Susanne - Going for a walk and taking photographs is much more pleasant in warmer weather than the extreme cold you described recently! As Cornelius points out, the overcast sky and fog, perhaps from melting snow, adds to the scene. The stream leads the eye from the bottom of the photo to the tree line across the lake, allowing one to take in the entire image. Well done! Thad

Very nice winter scene, Susanne. Overcast weather couldn't prevent you from taking good photos. Quietness and stillness preferred.

I always have problems with images like this. Trying to get the picture to come out nice and clear like this is hard but you nailed it! A wonderful scene with the stillness that is shown.

I love it when it is that quiet. You can hear the animals if you listen. You can be alone with your thoughts, calm and reflective. I get that mood from this scene. I love the mist rising from the contact of warm and cold.

Among us we all same black or white ,we all stand together strong,no difference. But in your photo the white(ice) melts and the black (rock) stands solid..it's the difference.
Very lovely snap it is. Thanks a lot. Bijan

An excellent photo, Susanne. You've done a very nice job of capturing the peaceful beauty to be found in winter. I like the muted colors, the scattering of rocks in the water, and the sparse line of trees in the distance. Great composition, as well. Well done!

A masterpiece of winter stillness. The colors are great and go together magically. I like the horizon two thirds up and level. The river's bending path out into the open leads the eye pleasingly. Congratulations on a superior achievement!

wow, your description really gives the image depth. I do notice the peace in this image, although I'd have thought that there would be motion from all the flowing thawing water. I think that this is a nice meditation piece.
