In this Little cottage the farmers wives came together and did their laundry. It was hard work and it went on for days. Today most of them are empty and will soon disappear.

All comments are most welcome. I thank you in advance for taking the time. Always greatly appreciated!

Beautiful scene with the lonesome building on the field and the blue sky. Good one Susanne.

A beautiful scene from a time that has gone by. My grandmother & great-grandmother grew up with a building similar to this one ... it was called a summer kitchen where they did the majority of the cooking & canning in the summer months. They also did their laundry there. Since my ancesters are all from Scandivavia, I'm sure this is where they got it from. Love the detail & colors ... excellent capture, Susanne.

Glad to see a post from you Susanne. Hope you're doing well my friend!

It was a hard and tough job for the women. Nowadays it can hardly been imagined that it was an almost daily 'event'. Being born at the countryside, it brings back memories. Thank for this nice image.

This surely reminds me of scenes from our state of Minnesota - much Scandinavian heritage there and I've see very similar buildings - lovely post Susanne

What an interesting piece of history...hard work for farmers' wives, but on the plus side, I'm sure they had time to share and tell stories. Wonderful image, great lighting and composition.

The clouds balance the upper left as the cottage does the same for the lower right. I love the history you provided and wish we could slow "advancements" down. Not all new things are good. And, it is good to see you posting again, Susanne.

What a cute little cottage this is and your photo is stunning with great composition and stunning colours and love how you have the clouds filling space on the right making a lovely balance with the cottage .Plus the detail in this scene is superb plus the trees in the far distance add a noise feel to this capture too.
