Its amazing how an aircraft which is almost forty years old now can still look so damn good. 'Maverick' choose to go to Top Gun in the movie by the same name. I personally think he is an idiot when he could have gotten himself into one these babies.

The immense amount of heat that's being given off by this aircraft shows just how powerful it really is. The SR-71 Blackbird is without a doubt a legend among the United States Airforce.

This plane is one of the most powerfuly spy planes out there, there is still so much unknown about it. maybe someday NASA will give us the grant to take a nice close look

a damn shame they put the sr-71 out of commission... but presumably that means they replaced it with something faster and cooler... i hope it isn't too long until we have sweet photos of the aurora spy plane!

We need more, especially shots of the B1-B and the F-111.... planes that dont get a lot of exposure, but are the best at what they do

Way Cool Dude! "Get off the *@#!&% runway, cus I'm in a hurry!!!" The Blackbird has no equal if you leave out the X-15 rocket plane which flew at something like 4,300 + mph and at something like 300,000 ft.! This plane flat out looks sinister and menacing - and it was! Nations of the world (especially the USSR) feared it and could do absolutely nothing to stop it. It literally could fly anywhere around the globe without fear of reprisals. Because it flew so high and so fast it left the enemy zero response time! Just wish it was still in commission and yes even still blowing out windows and rattling houses from its massive sonic booms!!! That is a sound worth hearing every now and again!! Its a sound of peace and good will!! Cheers! /irkstl

Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of Yahweh, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; 6 nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.....

It is BEAUTIFUL.

What does the description about Caedes distorting the image mean? Also, on my system there is no one listed as the person posting, so I don't know who to contact.

I would love a larger copy of this for my higher-res screen, espcially if it is not 'distorted'. Would that be possible to get from you?

It is a great photo and a great aircraft. One comment though - it is heat refraction, not Heat Diffraction. Refraction is caused by the change in speed of light when passing from one medium to another. In this case from cold to warm air. Diffraction is what happens when a light wave encounters an obstacle.

"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free." If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
