Decided it was about time I uploaded something. This is a combination of new and previously used elements. Thanks to NMSmith for his Jewel tutorials. I will also make a 1440 x 900 version for myself so if anyone wants it...

More images and prints available in my Deviant art and Redbubble galleries.

Very sophisticated, Sam - I really like this one.
(PS we still have a photo of yours - some eucalyptus leaves - on our other computer, because it is so relaxing and beautiful. Thought you might be chuffed to know it now ranks as the longest lived desktop in this house!)

To me, the shine seems to detract from the over-all awesomeness of the image ... greatly (almost made me want to close the image-view instantly).

Just my rather blunt instinctive comment ;)

Other than ^that^, this is quite good! I admire your genius use of the lens flare behind the jewel, and the ring surrounding the centre of attention truly is awesome :)

You've also put Nathan's tutorial to good use as well, and the subtle inclusion of 'rescope ... .com.au' seems to make the image look more professional, to me at least.

Now if only i could do gradient backgrounds that suite my images :\
