Oil painting on canvas. This is my sister on the day she was married. I think there is a problem with the face - can you tell me what is wrong??? Thanks!
Personally .. I think that, not only is that lighter highlight on her cheek odd .. but that area of the cheek needs to be tapered\smoothed back .. the way it goes straight down her jawline is a little odd
it looks as though she dribbled a little mashed potatoes on her chin during the reception .. and nobody has had the nerve to point it out to her .. because she has a mean temper
:o)
Excellent work, regardless of sloppy eating habits .. well done
I think the painting is wonderful. If there is anything wrong with the face, I'd say the right eye is just too large. End the eye line that comes toward us a bit sooner. I really like the composition of this.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

she looks radiant and happy, you did a fine job with painting her, i like how you painted her hair and her sweater, for me the critisisms would be her bottom lip is too dark, the shadows round her nose are a bit harsh, and theres something with the eye that is not quite 100% , perhaps like cynlee says a bit to big, but anyway, they are minor critisisms as this is a very lovely painting in my humble opinion.
it's really beautiful, a very nice portrait on a joyful day :)
I'm not bothered by anything on her face, but then again, I'm no painter so that probably doesn't mean anything. Thanks for sharing!

actually, i find the face quite lovely. you really captured her expression of happiness. faces are tough. i think you did a good job with it. i'd agree with someone else that maybe her right eye is a bit too long. maybe her left eye should come in a bit more as well. i think you could get away with leaving it the way it is though. you probably are finding fault with it because you're comparing it to your sister's face, but we don't see her, so it looks fine to us!
