I took this pic of a hairy woodpecker eating from a suet bag on Sept 16, 2008 at Arrowhead Prov Park - Huntsville, Ontario. It was taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XTI and a Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 AF lens at 1/320s, F/4.5, a focal length of 192mm and ISO 400 *due to excess shade in our campsite.

Shawn, I love your shot of this cute little Hairy Woodpecker, we only have the Downy to my knowledge in our yard each day. We also have the Pileated Woodpecker in our yard also. Your capture is really great with outstanding colours, clarity and detail. I have a capture of my little Downy's & largest Pileated Woodpeckers in my art gallery.

I really like different birds. This hairy was really cool. He was about 3 times bigger than a downy but other than that they look identical.

I have not seen one of these before. I don't think we have them here in Australia. LOL. He is so cute. Nice capture.
